Dear Yuletide Author 2018!

I’m effectaffect both here and on AO3, wishing you a Happy Yuletide! In general I love stories with a complicated emotional context, about characters exploring their relationships or experiences, and I go absolutely wild for casual touch, for sensory details in writing, and caretaking - especially hand-feeding or making and sharing food together, and hurt/comfort.
I'm just going to dive right in to my requests!
Aldnoah.Zero
Klancain, Slaine Troyard
I love this canon's dramatic plots in action, so if you are interested in writing gen and/or worldbuilding, I couldn't help thinking that the series ended with a brilliant set-up for the scandal to be uncovered in the far future, and for the specter of Terrorist Slaine Troyard who ought to have been executed be revealed somehow. What sort of legacies have been left by Asseylum's decisions? Could the people involved find common ground? Even if Slaine and Klancain have shared interests, can they support her effectively? And of course, how will the people who knew and didn't know cope with the consequences of the truth?
If you're interested in writing something with a more narrow, character-focused scope or (my little heart can hope) shipfic, I'd love for curiosity to get the better of Klancain when it comes to Slaine (as a person and as a part of Asseylum's life). Since they traded barbs about Count Cruhteo's influence, Klancain having met Slaine near to his worst self, I would love something involving Klancain's curiosity about the wreck of a human being that Slaine is and what exactly is in him that Asseylum can't bear to lose him even though his (wretched) survival is the sort of secret that could topple empires. How could someone so smart make so many wrong choices? And I would love for Slaine to reveal how undeserving he believes he is of the chance to survive, dealing with living as a sort of punishment, and finding similarities or differences between each other based on their lived experiences and the way they were each shaped by Vers and Cruhteo. Casual intrigue leads to interpersonal drama and deepening entanglements! Klancain learning about his empress through her dearest and most troubled choices in crisis could be in a series of vignettes. I'm curious to see what shape the tension between them takes.
Opting In: unhappy endings, major character death, torture & interrogation, PWP, noncon & dubcon, heavy bondage, breathplay, humiliation, dehumanization, background ships of any kind, jealousy and possessiveness including marking, shifting power dynamics, compulsions toward self-harm, unhealthy coping mechanisms, manipulation, characters in denial, outsider POV, infidelity, conspiracy or scapegoating, mutually assured destruction, near-misses or close calls, epistolary, characters engaging in something because they think they deserve it/it’s punishment regardless of whether or not that’s true, unexpected interconnectedness, the magical poly ending where everyone is happy and nobody’s a war criminal lol sob, characters not requested playing a major role, mental/emotional age regression as a response to trauma, Science Fiction Plot Points (for example, building a time machine or someone becoming an immortal AI), forcing Slaine to eat food because otherwise he’ll die and we can’t have that…
Please No: poetry or song fic, a/b/o, parent-and-child kink, Christmas, puke or shit, cannibalism, major setting AUs (canon divergence is okay)

Kurebayashi Kazuki, Kurebayashi Yuzuki
This is a request for canonical twincest.
So, I keep thinking about Kazuki's feelings being ambiguous and the implication that wishes have to have the selector's own direct action to come true or create the "win conditions" of the game. There's Yuzuki's inference that the dreams have to be possible to come true, a very tidy way for her to resolve any guilt about changing her brother's feelings for her with magic-- though it could also be that her desire to be with him publicly and openly changes the world they'll grow into rather than their feelings. If you want to go down a dark path, Kazuki's experience of feeling his worldview change and being unable to return to the state he knows he was in before would make for an awesome horror story.
That said, I also love Yuzuki and want her to be happy, even if that (to her) means sibling incest happily ever after, with the loving support of her friends. Kazuki's feelings naturally growing, or having always been there -- that Yuzuki's friends care about her but also trust her when she says what is she wants is great. I'd love to read about Kazuki and Yuzuki's first time or struggling to keep under wraps to the rest of the world, any engagement with the rest of their family, or making their time together count and the lengths they go to in order to be and stay together would be fun and interesting, too. I just couldn't believe they got as close to a happy end as this canon seems to offer just about anyone, despite the odds. I love that of all the stories in the canon, theirs is shown as this wonderful prize worth going through the agonies of magical girlhood for, and they get to be together. I just would love to read something about the two of them actually managing it -- with or without magical interference.
Opting In: Christmas romance, bathing together, sharing food or making food as a semi-secret love language, noncon or dubcon, unsafe sex, secret relationship, unplanned pregnancy, psychological horror, obsessive/possessive behavior from either character, domesticity, angst or whump, relationship being public, consequences whether positive or negative, hopeful if not happy endings, explicit fic, kink content (especially breathplay, breeding kink, and that thrill of possibly being caught -- whether that's public sex or just the nature of their relationship), marriage??? kidfic??? Anything not in my DNWs will make me happy for this one.
Please No: poetry or song fic, a/b/o, parent-and-child kink play, puke or shit, cannibalism, major setting AUs (canon divergence is okay)
Gundam Tekketsu
Ride Mass, Eugene Sevenstark, Atra Mixta, Kudelia Aina Bernstein
THIS YEAR THERE ARE SO MANY GREAT CHARACTERS IN THE TAG SET I had to work really hard to narrow down my options and decide on prompts to run with! That said, I am thrilled to be able to zero in on what I’ve come up to request of you, writer. I gotta say, I feel on some level like Tekketsu is a sort of origin story for Ride as we glimpse him at the very end -- I love the canon as it stands, but oh my gosh, I want so much more!!! Of all of their stories!! But this time Ride is the focus of this request, and I’m really interested in his presence and departure from Tekkadan’s orbit (but never their spirit and surely never their hearts) when the whole family plunged into the future as upstanding civilians under assumed identities. Despite Ride clearly being the youngest of the CGS boys in management, that he worked as leader and caregiver to the younger ones alongside Atra, helping manage people as Takaki, Akihiro, and Chad each did in different ways, his artistic side so connected to Tekkadan’s imagery, and how he’s forging ahead in Mikazuki’s legacy really made an impact on me about him trying to preserve some childhood for the younger kids (saving up his candy to give out to calm them down) and his own adultification through the experience of war, and how that has left him sort of stuck in a space of violent grief in the future. I wonder, does he feel like that last command, to really live til you die, with full presence in each moment, always moving forward, is more of a gift of purpose or a curse to outlive loved ones as well as hardships? BOTH IS ALSO GOOD.
How does Ride’s self-imposed separation from the others come about, and can it end so long as he’s walking a warlike path for justice? We’ve seen Atra in a nurturing role the whole series, supporting everyone and always making the careful decision to embrace their hardships with loving understanding and carefully-chosen acts of unity or togetherness, and I’m curious about her feelings about Ride taking space -- does she trust he’ll come back when he’s ready, or to carve new names on the Tekkadan tombstone? I could see her being more adjusted to the idea that chicks from their nest might need to wing it on their own for a while before returning, while Kudelia clearly has a need to know where he is, sending Eugene out to search for Ride. How much of that is Kudelia’s need to have ended the world Mikazuki was a product of, and how does Ride’s emotional state and decisions impact Kudelia’s idea of her own legacy aside from Mikazuki’s? Eugene’s got a big task that he’s sort of grown into as right-hand-man to Kudelia and visible as her assistant and bodyguard, but he was also the most childish of the older guys, and seeing his growth compared to Ride’s is really interesting to me. Are any of them following that example Mikazuki set when Takaki chose to leave, reminding Takaki his only duty was to Fuuka was in part to make leaving easier for Takaki, or are they looking to bring Ride back into their family even though he clearly has very strong feelings about what can’t be let go -- can they not let go of the hope that he’ll return to being the boy they knew? Because Eugene clearly is involved in searching for Ride, I am especially curious about their interactions, what if any history there is between them that makes Eugene crucial in bridging the connection to Ride, to who he is, who he used to be, and who he might become. How does Eugene handle Kudelia’s official needs and what needs of his own are met or hindered by trying to find Ride, and how that’s different or similar to Atra’s forged family ties and persistence as the home of Tekkadan… and how Ride was once a sort of heart of the group as well, and how his vengeance does or doesn’t show that he still is. Eugene and Ride were both so much in awe of Orga (who rarely let them see himself at his vulnerable times) and the shock of his mortality hit them each, I’d be interested to see how that fits into their drive and sense of obligation to the group as a whole.
I know it seems like a weird match, but I do feel like Eugene and Ride have potential for a reunited-in-the-future spark of something that’s more than familial or friendly, whether it works or is healthy or not, on having encounters after the timeskip, when Ride’s a little more grown and leading his own group of vigilantes. I really feel like Eugene, for all his posturing, is a younger guy emotionally during the bulk of the show, and he seems to have changed a lot at the end, become reliable at Kudelia’s side, supporting her in her work life as well as in her life with Atra. I love that so many of the Tekkadan family are still able to be light-hearted and happy, to laugh and treasure what they have. Because Ride is feeling so much of what he lost, finding a way for him to get through it, empowered, helping to build the Some Other Place would be really emotionally satisfying -- but also, it’s interesting to consider the ways Kudelia and the legal cover Tekkadan is operating under can’t bring about all of the change. Ride being connected but keeping them in the dark for legal purposes could be really fun, just as much as a vision of the future where Ride is distant and always longing for home, to me.
I’m mostly aiming for something post-canon or during the final timeskip, but I’d love something about these four and their different approaches to the Tekkadan family, to battle and its aftermath, and each other set during the series, or along a what-if path of divergence, too. Just because I couldn’t think of an angle on this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t run with what you come up with. I’m also okay with it if you aren’t able to fit every character I’ve requested in -- I will enjoy a fluffy Kudelia/Atra shipfic JUST AS MUCH as the emotionally difficult prompts I just poured out. Of course, that’s not to say I won’t welcome shippy content in with the emotionally difficult prompts, I would be super thrilled for Eugene and Ride figuring something out, or Kudelia and Atra’s togetherness as a respite from the tough world they all exist in.
Opting In: hopeful rather than happy endings, unhappy endings, major character death, noncon & dubcon, violence and its aftermath, identity porn where some characters don’t know who the others really are during encounters, dehumanization, background ships of any kind, jealousy and possessiveness including marking, shifting power dynamics, compulsions toward self-harm, unhealthy coping mechanisms, characters in denial, conspiracy or scapegoating, mutually assured destruction, near-misses or close calls, epistolary, characters engaging in something because they think they deserve it/it’s punishment regardless of whether or not that’s true, unexpected interconnectedness, the magical poly ending where everyone is happy and nobody’s a war criminal lol sob, characters not requested playing a major role, mental/emotional age regression as a response to trauma, complicated family dynamics, flashbacks or nightmares, PTSD, underage encounters (if you wanna go there for Ride), questionable relationship choices, angst or whump, domesticity
